How To Flash An Xbox 360 For Dummies

OK you may think that flashing your xbox so it can play burned games is impossible and is only something nerds and hackers can do. Well its not and after flashing mine i decided to come up with a tutorial to tell normal people how to do it. There are lots of steps in flashing an Xbox and you have to understand before doing this that not every xbox can be flashed so my first step will be to check on wheather or not your can be flashed.

Step 1.

Take off the faceplate of your xbox 360

Step 1.1

Your Xbox should now look like this

There is a hole where the yellow circle is take a flash light and look in there. You are going to see one of 3 things

A red wire YOU CANT FLASH YOUR XBOX

No wire YOU CANT FLASH YOUR XBOX

A silver wire YES THIS ONE WILL WORK YOU CAN FLASH YOUR XBOX

You also may see 2 yellow wires this means you cannot flash your xbox

Now great if you know that you have a silver wire in that hole you just looked at, you can flash your xbox

Step 2

How much is this going to cost and what things do i need

Ok you will need the following things

A Computer (a laptop will not work) A chip that cost $20 and is bought off ebay

Screw Driver Some time

Pin, and DVD burner (has to be able to burn dual layer disks)

The Chip (VIA VT6421A)

The chip that i mentioned above is going to be used to connect your xbox 360 to your computer (without this chip it is impossible to flash your xbox) The chip can be easly bought off Ebay for $15 Here is a link to a seller on ebay that you can buy it from

You will get the following things with your buy

The Chip

The Sata Cable (this red cable connects your xbox to the chip and coputer)

A Cd (this cd will basically install the chip to your computer)

Now you got your chip and all the other thigns listed above that come with it. Here is the hard part, putting the chip into your computer.

Step 1

Getting into your computer

Every computer comes with a side that can be opened

Opening your side panel is not difficult and every computer is diffrent. Ushally computers have a switch on the back that you click down and slide the door open but some have screws it varys for computer to computer.

Now your inside your computer it should look something like this

Now there are 3 white slots near the bottom lower left corner of the computer (seen above)

You will see that these slots fit in whith your chip just nudge the chip in one of the 3 white slots. The chip should comfratbly slide into the slot dont force it in. Now take the cd you got with the chip and install it on your computer. Do not close the side panel yet you have to have it open for later.

Ok now at this point you should have your chip in the computer installed with the cd with the side panel still open now you need to open up your xbox (opening your xbox voids your warranty) there are a whole bunch of videos on youtube that show you how to do this here is one of them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaxIB6cXTYM

After you have opened your xbox it should look something like this

Place your opened xbox 360 near your computer

There are 2 cables that conncect the drive to the xbox, the drive is the large silver thing on the left side that reades your cds. These cables are located on the back of the drive one is black the other is white. Take out the black one nudge it out. Now take your SATA cable (the red cable you got with the chip) and connect it to where the black cable was connected to. take the other end of the SATA cable and put it in the chip. The chip has a thing where you can connect the cable to on the side of the chip. Now your xbox is hooked up to your computer and now you will make sure that the xbox is pluged into the power and the audi/visual cable is pluged into the back but does not need to be plugged into your tv just the back of the xbox.

Great Now more hard stuff (what you will need to downlaod)

You will need to download WinRar here is a linkhttp://www.rarlab.com/download.htm just click on the first one 32bit

You will also need to download Windows NET framework 3.0 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/default.aspx

Xbins http://www.360mods.net/index.php?name=Downloads&get=29

jungle flasher v1.64 http://jungleflasher.net/downloads.html

Once you have download all of these things and opened them up in WinRAR click on the xbins icon on your desktop (A picture of the earth) now wait till xbins loads up and wait till it says something on the right side it will have a pictures of folders with xbox 360 and xbox. Proceed by clicking on the xbox 360 icon then click firmware, then hacked firmware, the Benq VAD, then click and downlaod ixtreme 1.6 benq one you have it downloaded (make sure you download to the desktop) open and check the file with WinRar extract it and you will get 3 files one of them is called ix16.txt this is the one you need to flash your xbox. Now open Jungle flasher by extracting it in Winrar and clicking on JungleFlasher.exe now jungle flasher should be opened in a window.

Your almost there

Now go on the tab called MTK Flash 32

On the left side you should see something called I/O port with a dropdown menu

If you see what iam seeing turn on your xbox 360

Now the dropdown menu under I/O port should have a whole bunch of numbers. Click on each one of the numbers util you click one and the bottom of your screen changes from saying NO DRIVE DETECTED to VAD6038. Once you got the right number selected with your drive detected by your computer we are ready to flash

Go and click BENQ unclock on the top right part of the screen

Ok Now your benq is unlocked and your xbox should be flashing the light. Now click on Intro just under Benq unclock, after that click read it will ask you to save something save this file in a safe place. now go back to the firmware tool 32 tab. Click on open targer firmware and choose the file you have just downalod from xbins choose the ix16.txt file. and now click the botton in between spoof source to target now your DVD keys should match up from top to the bottom. GO back now to the MTK FLash 32 tab and click write once it says Flash completed in the bottom your xbox is flashed all there is left to do is click on the outro/ATA reset botton next to the into button

YOUR XBOX IS FLASHED PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AND ENJOY
